Road Trip Activities During the Holiday Season
The holiday season is a popular time to travel – especially if we have relatives living far away. Driving to visit relatives during the holiday season, and not just because they like to get in your business. You have the weather and traffic to worry about, and if you have kids, you need to figure out a way to keep them entertained during the long hours on the road. We can’t help with the weather or the traffic, but we have some fun road trip activities for you and your family!
Listening to Christmas Music – This is always an obvious option and when you find the perfect collection of holiday albums, you and your family can all sing along.
Podcasts – When everyone has listened to enough Christmas songs but isn’t interested in socializing, we recommend switching to a podcast if your vehicle has streaming capabilities. “Stuff You Missed in History Class” is family-friendly and has several Christmas-themed episodes.
Mad Libs – For some laughs, we recommend bringing along some Mad Libs, which you can either find online or in book form. Depending on the age of your passengers, you can get as naughty or nice as you want!
Reading Classic Christmas Stories – Kids always love having stories read to them, so whichever parent is riding shotgun can read easy options like T’was the Night Before Christmas or a kid’s version of A Christmas Carol.
Christmas Movies – For really long trips, bring along the laptop, tablet, or a portable DVD player so the kids can enjoy a Christmas movie. We recommend Annabelle’s Wish, White Christmas, or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
