New Year’s Eve in Montpelier

Fireworks, magic shows, music, and general joy. You name it, this event has got it. Magic shows are from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The fireworks will start at 7:30 p.m. And the Dave Keller Band will hit the stage at 8 p.m. and play into the new year! First Night Burlington

Live music, dancing, arts and crafts, face painting and more! Come down to college street in Burlington and celebrate First Night on January 1st, 2017.It is the 34th annual celebration of this type and is loved by all. For more information go to the First Night Burlington website.

New Year’s Eve 5K

The central Vermont runners are hosting a 5K run that starts at the Pavilion State Office Building in Montpelier. They will be meeting in the basement auditorium. The entry fee for adults is $15, and while pre-registration is encouraged, you can also register at the event. The race starts at 2 p.m. and has a number of age groups ranging from 0 to over 70 years old. For more information go to RunReg.

First Run 5K in Burlington

Are you fast and furious, or more of a fun and festive runner? Whatever the case may be, there’s a place for you in Burlington’s First Run. This race is presented by the University of Vermont Medical Center and all are welcome. There are several categories to participate in. You can walk or jog, and you are even encouraged to wear a costume as it might win you a prize. Your race entry also entitles you to wonderful post race food and a raffle entry.
